Palm Pixi: Worth the Bargain?

Palm and Sprint are on the way to market their Palm Pre successor, Palm Pixi. The popularity and usefulness of Palm Pre as well as the versatile WebOS software has made millions waiting for the release of the new model which is to happen a few weeks from now.

I had a single question in my mind. “Would replacing my Palm Pre with Pixi be an intelligent decision?”
After searching quite a few websites and reviews, I think I have found the answer. Pixi may be newer, but it is never the better. The release of Pixi is just to capitalize on the popularity and monopoly of Palm Pre in this sector. Wouldn’t you be tempted to buy the newer version of your favourite Palm Pre which had been the best mobile in your hand? But, unlikely Palm Pixi is a model released for those customers who have not had their Pre and would like to have a Palm mobile. And for those who haven’t had the Palm yet, it is the price that matters. In order to gain on the popularity of the previous product a ‘low cost’ gadget has been released by Palm and this is it.
And it is better for me to never upgrade it. Neither will I buy a new Pixi with the cost (about $99) carrying brunt on its features which include

  •  No Wifi
  • Less RAM
  • Slow processor
  • Small screen
  • Lower camera

Wouldn’t it be safer to buy a new Palm Pre with better of all the features told above and at a price of $100. And you could get better and better if you add a few dollars extra. Don’t go by my words as this post would mean a premature review statement. Do some discussion in forums and make your decision for the 1-2 year long contract with a mobile phone.
